About Lexipol
At Lexipol, our mission is to create safer communities and empower the individuals on the front lines with market-leading content and technology. Our top-notch team works closely with law enforcement, fire, EMS, corrections, and local government professionals to tailor our solutions to better address today’s challenges and keep first responders coming home safely at the end of each shift.
Working at Lexipol means making a difference – day in and day out.
The Work:
The Senior Business Development Manager is a senior individual contributor responsible for owning a strategic book of business across the full Lexipol Media Group portfolio. This role works directly with the largest and most complex advertisers in the public safety market. There are no direct reports.
Lexipol Media Group is the media and marketing arm of Lexipol’s mission. Through Police1, FireRescue1, EMS1, Corrections1 and Gov1, LMG reaches virtually the entire U.S. public safety audience with award-winning journalism, training content, product research and career resources. For the brands that sell into public safety, LMG is the channel that reaches the chiefs, command staff, procurement leaders and frontline practitioners who make and influence buying decisions.
This position sells the complete portfolio: display/programmatic advertising, newsletters/emails, podcast, event sponsorships, custom content programs, webinars, research/survey programs, lead generation packages, video and more. Most deals are multi-product, annual or multi-year partnerships rather than one-off insertion orders, which makes the role a true consultative strategy sale. The role requires strong commercial instincts, fluency with digital media performance data, and the ability to design an omni-channel program from a client’s go-to-market objectives rather than from a rate card.
Key Performance Objectives:
Revenue Ownership
• Carry and exceed an individual annual revenue quota across a named list of strategic and enterprise accounts.
• Own the full sales cycle: prospecting, discovery, proposal development, pricing, negotiation, close, and renewal.
• Research, close and grow new business accounts — identify advertisers not currently investing with Lexipol Media Group, build the case for entry, win the first campaign, and expand it into a recurring multi-product partnership.
• Grow existing accounts through upsell and cross-sell into additional brands, products and fiscal-year budgets.
• Maintain accurate pipeline, forecast and activity records in the CRM; deliver a forecast leadership can rely on.
Portfolio Selling
• Sell advertising and sponsorship opportunities across Police1, FireRescue1, EMS1, Corrections1 and Gov1 — display, native, newsletter, podcast, video and programmatic.
• Design and sell content marketing and lead generation programs, including sponsored content, white papers, webinars, custom editorial series and content syndication.
• Sell event and experiential partnerships, including virtual summits, live webinars, awards programs and conference activations.
• Package these elements into integrated, outcome-driven programs rather than selling line items in isolation.
Client Strategy & Partnership
• Build senior-level relationships with marketing leaders at public safety technology, equipment, apparel, vehicle, training and services companies, and with their agencies of record.
• Present campaign performance and business reviews that justify renewal and expansion; be the person the client calls before they finalize next year’s budget.
• Serve as the client’s advocate internally, coordinating with Ad Operations, Content Studio, Editorial, Marketing and Finance to deliver what was sold.
Market Leadership
• Develop deep fluency in the public safety market: agency budget cycles, grant funding, procurement processes, and the competitive landscape our advertisers operate in.
• Represent Lexipol Media Group at industry conferences and client meetings.
• Feed market intelligence back into product and pricing — what buyers are asking for, where we are losing, and what we should build next.
• Contribute to the broader revenue team’s practices by sharing what works, without formal management responsibility.
Required Qualifications:
• 7+ years of B2B media, advertising or marketing solutions sales experience, with a consistent record of meeting or exceeding quota.
• Demonstrated success closing complex, multi-product programs at six figures or above.
• Experience selling across a portfolio that includes advertising, content marketing or lead generation, and events — and an understanding of how those components are managed individually and combined into client offerings.
• Strong consultative selling skills, including discovery, needs analysis, proposal design and negotiation with senior marketing stakeholders.
• Fluency with digital media metrics and the ability to build and defend a plan using audience, engagement and attribution data.
• Disciplined CRM hygiene and accurate forecasting.
• Self-starter who takes initiative without waiting for direction; proactively identifies issues and drives them through resolution.
• Comfortable navigating ambiguity and finding effective solutions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to present credibly to CMOs, VPs of Marketing and executive stakeholders.
• Willingness to travel approximately 25%–35%.
Preferred Experience:
• Experience in the public safety, government, Military, GovTech or first responder market.
• Background at a B2B trade publisher, industry media company or endemic media network.
• Familiarity with government and agency procurement cycles, grant funding and fiscal-year budgeting.
• Experience selling integrated programs that combine owned media with client-side marketing objectives.
Employee Value Proposition:
The organization is growing, committed to staff growth, professional development, and looking to scale the impact of our work nationally — with uncapped earning potential and direct influence on what we build and how we price it.
Compensation and Benefits:
Lexipol offers a competitive base salary, annual incentive, and a comprehensive benefits package including 401(k) with company match and flexible paid time off.
Base salary range for this role is $1000,000-$120,000 plus uncapped commission, with on-target earnings equal to base salary.
